Road Trip Road to Hana
The beautiful and scenic drive down Road to Hana is a must when visiting Maui. The unique and legendary drive offers views to some of the most amazing sights, waterfalls, and beaches around the island. However, it comes with a price – a long and windy 52 mile drive with narrow one lane bridges and cliffs. However, thanks to Valley Isle Excursions, they provide stops to all the top places to see on Road to Hana while cruising in a comfortable large van in one full day. I was able to kick back and relax and take as many photos as possible with breathtaking stops through Maui’s tropical rainforest. Join me on on an adventure to all the top places to see on Road to Hana ranging from views of spectacular cliffs, waterfalls, colorful island flowers, and rainforest vegetation here!
Sunrise Bike Down Haleakala Volcano
Who would wake up at 2:30am to go see sunrise then bike down a 10,000 foot Hawaiian volcano? Yes, 2:30am. Sounds intimidating but it was invigorating and worth it for such an unforgettable experience. I was looking for new adventures and a bike down Haleakala Volcano, Maui piqued my interest. The journey was absolutely incredible going from pitch dark to the sun rise slowly rising above the clouds. You will feel like you are floating along the clouds with clear visibility of the sun. After a lot of oohs and ahhs, we started our bike adventure descending down the volcano with fun stops at the lavender cafe to picking up homemade fresh donuts. Join me in this truly epic and memorable adventure that is well worth the early wake. Check out my post on the most epic adventure here!
Fun, exhilarating, beautiful are all words to describe my sunset zipline with Kapalua Ziplines. If you have always wanted to zipline, Maui is the place to do it. The aerial views are spectacular with a beautiful backdrop of the sun setting over the ocean. Start your sunset zipline tour at the top of Kapalua Mountain where you will experience an unforgettable adventure and that sweet adrenaline above the breathtaking landscape. Aloha serenity, zen, and peace. Ho’omana stands for empower yourself, and that is exactly how I felt leaving this place. The positive and relaxing energy here is definitely a treat to rejuvenate yourself and truly feel like you are on mini retreat within your vacation. I was up at 2am that morning to see the Haleakala sunrise followed by a bike ride so you can imagine how much I was looking forward to this after an early adventure! They are conveniently located in Makawao which makes the perfect stop after a visit to the volcano. What makes Ho’omana Spa Maui stand out from others is that their treatments are drawn from Hawaiian teachings and practices, bringing a more authentic experience physically and spiritually. There is a sense of peace that envelopes you throughout the spa grounds, making this space the perfect getaway in Maui. Read more here.

WHERE TO EAT IN MAUI
When you’re in Hawaii, poke is a MUST. It’s fresh, cheap, and everywhere! Try any of the local supermarkets and you will find fresh poke. For markets, I recommend going to Foodlands (multiple location), Lanai’ Ohana, and even Costco has poke! There are also local stores like Eskimo Candy Seafood Market which I wasn’t able to make out to but was highly recommended. Nonetheless, make sure you get some fresh ahi!
Location: 222 Papalaua St Ste 202 | Lahaina, HI 96761
Local Food offers freshly made kalua pulled pork and spam. It is your traditional island food that is the perfect hole in the wall. I am usually not a fan of spam but their spam was delicious, served warm on soft rice with a little sauce. A good hearty lunch spot!
Geste Shrimp Truck
Location: Kahului Beach Rd | Kahului, HI 96732
Website: Yelp | Geste Shrimp Truck
I get that shrimp craving when I think of Hawaii. I first fell in love with the delicious garlic shrimps in Oahu and was so excited to see there was one on Maui as well. It was a must to get some of this finger lickin’ good stuff! I ordered the spicy pineapple and the hawaiian scampi which comes with 12 shrimps, rice, cabbage, and crab macaroni. The garlic, the sauce, the juicy shrimp…mmm! The spicy pineapple I wasn’t as crazy about but it’s perfect for those who like a little sweet and spice in their life. The crab mac was quite tasty but keep in mind it’s imitation crab.
Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop
Location: 820 Olowalu Village Rd | Lahaina, HI 96761
Website: Yelp | Leodas
Get your sweet craving fixed with Leoda’s pie! Their coconut pie is amazing in addition to their other fruit pies. The ambience is cute, clean, and rustic. They also offer regular foods but who needs that when you can eat pie all day?
Ululani’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice
Location: 819 Front St| Lahaina, HI 96761
Website: Yelp | Ululani’s
Along with poke, you must get some Hawaiian shaved ice when you’re on the island. Ululani’s is the most popular one with multiple locations. The quality of the ice is like powder snow that melts so smoothly in your mouth. They offer a lot of different fruit flavors and can do add-ons for ice cream and snow cap. Make sure you get it with macadamia ice crream!
WHERE TO STAY
Maui Discount Timeshare Rentals – Hololani
Where: 4401 Lower Honoapiilani Hwy | Kahana, Maui, HI 96761
Website: Tripadvisor | Website
I was fortunate to be able to book a place at the peak season during Christmas holidays. I was initially hesitant about booking through Maui Discount Timeshare Rentals, but everything worked out perfectly and smoothly! If you are traveling in larger groups, I recommend staying at Hololani which offers 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living room, balcony, and this amazing access to the pool by the ocean. They also offer other condos around the island, contact Rick as he is very prompt.
Other Maui Tips:
– Most resort and hotels are in Kapalua, Kaanapali, Lahaina, Kihei, and Wailea.
– You will need a rental car to get around the island, pick it up at the airport.
– Bring mosquito repellent and always prepare in case of any rain!
and most importantly….
Google when the sun sets in Maui and make room in your schedule to catch sunset. There are plenty of parking lots at different beaches as you are driving down the coast, you can easily pull over to the side and catch sunset.
