HOTEL HUSAFELL, ICELAND
We easily fell for Hotel Husafell with its charming and luxurious ambience as well as its exclusive location surrounded by magnificent glaciers. When you make the counter-clockwise road trip around Iceland, you’ll come to West Iceland near the end of the loop and Hotel Husafell is there for an exquisite, yet comfortable stay. It made the perfect stay to the end of our trip as we were looking to relax and explore the beautiful nature surroundings where we were able to see the gorgeous Hraunfossar waterfalls. They describe it best, it’s for ‘the adventurous spirit who wishes to experience the exciting and unusual admist great, natural beauty.‘
Hotel Husafell offers 48 rooms in four sizes (standard, deluxe, superior deluxe, and suite). Check-in was very smooth and and got our room very quickly. Right when you step in, the decor is very clean, modern, and sleek. They have a lot of natural lighting along the windows and the restaurant that overlooks the beautiful mountains and landscape. Hotel Husafell has various sized rooms including suites and villas but judging on the excellence of our standard room, you know the standard at this four starred hotel is very high. Our room was very spacious and the room was modern yet thoroughly comfortable. The room had plenty of natural lighting and easy access to the courtyard. The rooms have all the amenities you need such as free wifi, hair dryer, flat screen tv, coffee/tea, and mini refrigerator. The bathroom was especially notable with an innovative shower system and stone floors that felt heated which kept us perfectly toasty during our visit in April. They provided great Icelandic products from Soley which is a wonderful organic and natural skin care line. One of the highlights of our stay at Hotel Husafell is being able to take full advantage of their geothermal baths right on the premises and mere steps from our room. Hotel guests get free admission to the baths and you’ll certainly want to utilize them! The baths were built in 1965 and there are two pools, two hot baths, and even a water slide! We felt refreshed and invigorated after taking a dip in the baths. It’s an Icelandic staple and the water if powered from surrounding natural environment. The hot tubs were the best because the waters were labeled different temperatures and I really like my water hot as other baths didn’t offer as hot of a temperature as they did. My muscles felt extremely relaxed in the hot natural water feeling invigorated after such a tiring trip. Even with it being 30 degrees out and it started snowing, it was still truly a beautiful experience overlooking the mountains. The hotel also boasts a first-class restaurant that people all over the area come for fine dining. Complimentary breakfast is tremendous and has a variety of pastries, including mini-muffins, that we thought were some of the best we had in Iceland. This is perfect place to satiate your hunger especially if you’re using the hotel to help book adventures to the strikingly beautiful nature surrounding the hotel. This was possibly the best breakfast view we had as it overlooked into the snow capped mountains surrounded by nature with so much natural lighting.

Hotel Husafell is conveniently located to see beautiful waterfalls nearby or if you’re lucky, to see the northern lights! It is also a where Into the Glacier meets and picks people up for their tours (glacier, lava tours). You can book into the glacier tours as well. Additionally, given the unique location embedded in scenic heart of nature, Hotel Husafell is the hub for multiple sightings of the Northern Lights. This is due to the remote location away from light pollution. The hotel even offers wake up calls so you can breathlessly witness this spectacular phenomenon. A trip to Iceland is not complete until you’ve seen the Northern Lights,. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay in Hotel Husafell from the mixture of Scandinavian decor with supreme luxury to the breath of nature that is infused throughout the hotel.
