The Blue Hostel in Rome, Italy
Finding a budget friendly hotel in Rome is becoming more scarce as more tourists travel every year. Fortunately there is Blue Hostel which is truly a gem in the heart of Rome and it won’t break the bank either! The Blue Hostel is a clean, charming boutique hotel that gives travelers a “four star experience.” Despite its name, the Blue Hostel truly did not feel anything close to a “hostel.” It is a good budget hotel in the heart of Rome that is your own quiet sanctuary with a B&B ambience.
The room is very charming with the perfect amount of space for a couple. Some of the amenities include a small refrigerator, TV, air conditioning, dresser with a key lock, and a very modern shower. Free wifi is also provided. It has great lighting from the huge window facing the internal courtyard. The decor is very stylish with a splash of red and modern art that pairs well with the rustic building. By your bed there will even be a few books available for leisure reading. Please note the rooms are a few flight of stairs up, nothing too grueling I promise. The best part is that it is away from all the street noise which provides a great place to rest after a long day of sightseeing. There isn’t 24/7 service on the premises but they do have a phone in the corridor where you can call management anytime you need something.
All the basic essentials you need for a stay in Rome.
One interesting fact is that the original timber ceilings are from 1750s, giving it a unique historic feel. The bathroom however is modern and clean with just the right amount of space and necessities.
Ercole and Alex were so welcoming and made you feel like home! We were greeted by Alex who gave us a brief tour and thoroughly explained the provided complimentary map of Rome with a lot of personal recommendations for restaurants and attractions to check out. Their recommendations were very helpful with a key tips and suggestions for non-touristy places if you want to experience Rome like a native. Ercole was so kind to write me a letter welcoming me since he was unable to check us in. Plus they respond so quickly to all your inquiries and go the extra mile to provide the personal touch to make sure you feel right at home.
Location, location, location! It is possibly one of the most important things when traveling. Blue Hostel is in a very central location to everything! In addition to being a good budget hotel in Rome, it is a close 5 minute walk from the train station Rome Termini. There are cute little restaurants and stores nearby that are convenient. Everything is truly walking distance, it will take about 15-20 minutes to the Colosseum and the other main attractions. We walked everywhere as it was the best way to see Rome. If you need to take the metro, it is within walking distance as well. We always felt very safe even walking back at night, you get through two doors with locks before getting to your own room for extra security.
What’s so great about Blue Hostel’s mission is that they want to provide a nice and comfortable accommodation at reasonable rates in Rome. It is a great hotel style room at hostel prices. It truly felt like we were living like the locals with our own little apartment room in the heart of the city. It is an authentic and tasteful experience and the price and homely feel is truly unrivaled as far as accommodations go in Rome.
