Unforgettable and unique views of Iceland!
We flew out from the Akureyri airport which was extremely easy to find and park with easy check-in.
The office is very neat and clean with water and coffee available. Our pilot, Ivar, was very professional and informative throughout the whole process.
You’ll be living large in their comfortable brand-new Airvans. Their pilots are second to none and will fly a smooth path to all the must-see destinations. Circle Air’s planes are ideal for filming or photographing and the smooth flying makes a steady platform for the professional photographer or film crew.
You’ll appreciate their leather seats, large windows, and quiet headsets. Additionally, the plane we flew in had a specific photo-window, to fit your camera lens outside without opening the door entirely! The flight provides a very intimate and personable experience for each person.
We flew the Diamond Circle flight from Akureyri where it takes you over Godafoss, Lake Myvatn, Dettifoss, and the many different and unique landscapes. Our pilot Ivar flew us through the striking landscape where they filmed Game of Thrones.
The route he took us on also explored over Lake Mývatn. Driving around you just cannot take in the lake’s true beauty. But from up high you’ll be able to see this scenic attraction and the nearby geothermal phenomena which really stand out due to their turquoise blue color.
Prior to our flight, we just visited all the waterfalls up close which was beautiful – but seeing it from above was a completely unique and memorable experience. Ivar took us over Godafoss waterfalls which was incredible to see from a 360 view.
Each landscape view would change so drastically from snow capped mountains to volcanic landscape with little craters to clear, turquoise waters – all in one hour!
One of Iceland’s many craters.
We also flew over their geothermal set-up which was amazing Iceland is at utilizing their natural wonders.
From Lake Mývatn we flew over Vatnajökull National Park to see Dettifoss, a powerful spectacle of a waterfall with water crashing down from a height of 144 feet into a narrow canyon. Just an absolutely unforgettable and remarkable sight flying over this natural wonder.
What seems like calm waters leading to the powerful Dettifoss!
From the Dettifoss waterfall we flew by the magnificent canyons, before turning back to Akureyri. The path back is your chance to soak in the north-east coastline and views in the west.
The beautiful waters of Iceland!
Next you know it, we are greeted again with that clear blue Iceland water again.
By the time you touch down on the tarmac, you’ll likely have a camera and phone filled with epic photographs. The thing about Circle Air is they specialize in photoflights so they work with you to make sure you get every memorable shot. We talked to them on the phone prior to our flight and you could tell they have decades of experience in business and aviation. All that experience means you get the best Icelandic memories
Thank you Ivar for a smooth and beautiful ride!
